  • This article presents the inconclusive results of research carried out by the Filmoteca Española of the various versions of L’Assedio dell’Alcazar. The unfavorable circumstances of postwar Spain have kept the original version of this film, a collaboration between the Italian and Franco fascist regimes, unknown to date. At least six different, re-edited versions of the original 1940 version have been conserved, and it is necessary to continue the search for new material in order to identify with certainty which version was shown during the years when the two totalitarian regimes, which had participated abstract in the filming, were on the rise.
