Through an analysis of the thirty six minutes of footage which Buñuel excluded from the final version of his film, it is possible to untangle the rhetorical strategies of the filmmaker, and at the same time to question several of his affirmations.
The film’s montage was in no way affected by the exclusion; on the contrary, it was clearly part of the filmmaker’s intention.
