  • En el Balcón Vacío deals with recovering a troubled memory of exile, identifying a fixation with the time when that uprooting occurred: in infancy. The impossibility of representing this pain-this loss-keeps the film from having a true closure, its final images bordering on delirium, where the abstract real invades and destroys the thread of its fictional storyline.
