  • It is very unusual to find a film which fuses historic documentation with narrative tempo and aesthetic values. En el balcón vacío successfully accomplishes this fusion. Our aim is to point out key historical questions to clarify the double nature of this film. It is impossible to fully understand the film without taking into account what living in exile meant, yet the film also artistically presents universal feelings of nostalgia for a abstract lost world, through the eyes of those who experienced it.
