The proliferation of Star Studies of recent years have overlooked the transnationality of Classical era films. This gap is clearly illustrated in the case of Dolores del Río, whose Hollywood-Mexico itinerary serves as a perfect example for analyzing the back and forth flow in which the star would come to represent the exotic-erotic “other” north of the Rio Grande, while representing the ethnic-indigenous in the golden age of Mexican cinema.
