  • Resumen
    • The abundant and well diversified ostracode assemblage of a beach sand sample from Tripoli (Lybia), previously studied by Bonaduce & Pugliese (1975), has been reexamined following the more modern and detailed systematics. A total of 68 species have been identified between which Aurila meridionalis n. sp. reported as nomen nudum, and Cytherelloidea ruggierii and Xestoleberis phaselus proposed and described as new.

The literature's data show that most of the species are widely distributed all around the Mediterranean, while some of them (Cytherelloidea beckmanni, Callistocythere folliculosa, Falsocythere terryi, Cistacythereis (C.) carthaginiensis, Cistacythereis (H.) rubra, Aurila glyptica, A. prasina, Semicytherura kaloderma, Macrocypris succinea) seem to be ristrected to its southern part. These species are consequently hypothesized indicators of warm-temperate waters.
