En este trabajo se examinan los procesos de formación de los mayores grupos empresariales pertenecientes a la industria tradicional española y sus consecuencias sobre la concentración de oferta, eficiencia y rentabilidad. En concreto, y considerando el último cuarto de siglo, se pone de relieve como la creación y crecimiento de los grupos ha elevado notablemente la concentración de oferta de mercado, ha incrementado su propia eficiencia diferencial, comparada con la media de la industria en lo que operan, contribuyendo también, en cierta medida, o la mejora de su rentabilidad.
The article analyses the formation process of the largest business groups in the Spanish traditional industry and the effects on global offer, efficiency and profitability. In detail, and taking into consideration the last quarter of the previous century. The article highlights how the consequences of the formation and growing of these groups have increase the offer concentration in the market, as well as its own diferential efficiency compared to the average in the industry where they operate and, to a certain extent, making a contribution to the improvement of their profitability.
