Our invesOur investigation is an attempt to approach the causes and consequences of one of the most significant, yet most neglected, graphical and musical repertoires of our XIX century art forms. Besides establishing the fundamental aspects of that epoch's music publishing, we touch on the essence of the documental typology of the period, which is the object of our investigation, and we outline the basic traits concerning the esthetics, the authors and the different typologies of score covers. The study of the graphical and lyrical-dramatic references used in the genesis of the latter will lead us to the inevitable connection that exists between the graphic document and the representation that propitiated it, and its spectators.tigation is an attempt to approach the causes and consequences of one of the most significant, yet most neglected, graphical and musical repertoires of our XIX century art forms.
