Este trabajo analiza el final de la resistencia armada de los apaches y de Naiche, último jefe hereditario de la banda central de los chiricahuas. Se examina su personalidad y los motivos por los cuales no desempeñó el cargo de jefe con la misma relevancia que su padre Cochise. Se destaca su relación con Gerónimo y el proceso de aculturación que experimentó durante los veintisiete años de su cautiverio en Florida, Alabama y Oklahoma.

This paper deals with the end of Apache armed resistance and Naiche, the last hereditary chief of the central band of the Chiricahuas, as well as his personality and the reasons why he did not fulfil the position with the same relevance as his father Cochise. Important also are Naiche¿s relations with Geronimo and the cultural transformation that he underwent during his twenty-seven years of captivity in Florida, Alabama and Oklahoma.
