This paper seeks to bring to light the figure of Guillerma de Atondo, the paternal grand-mother of Saint Francis Xavier, as well as her family, particularly the Jaso lineage. It also considers their places of origin and professional activities, focusing ultimately on the aspects that have been discovered about Guillerma herself, who has until now been known mainly through her last will and testament. The analysis of the existing bibliography, together with further personal research undertaken by the author, has made it possible to reveal several little-known details about this female figure, who lived in a period when women’s public presence was extremely limited.
Lan honetan Atondoko Guillerma, Xabierko Frantziskoren amona aitaren aldetik, eta bere familia, bereziki Jasotarrena ezagutzera eman nahi dira. Bere jatorria eta jarduera profesionalei buruz hitz egiten hasiko gara, ondoren, Guillermari buruz jakin ahal izan ditugun alderdietan zentratzeko, orain arte, batez ere, bere testamenduagatik ezaguna izan baita. Bere bibliografiaren azterketak, egilearen beste ikerketa pertsonal batzuekin batera, emakume honi buruz orain arte oso gutxi ezagutzen ziren zenbait alderdi argitaratzeko aukera eman du, emakumearen garrantzi publikoa oso urria zen garai batean.
