We present a summary of the historical evolution of quantum entanglement starting in 1935 with the arguments of Einstein and his collaborators and ending with some implications in the Second Quantum Revolution that we are beginning to see nowadays. We analyze the dispute between Einstein and Bohr over the Copenhagen interpretation, and we pay particular attention to the experiments that have confirmed current theories. We also review experiments related to quantum entanglement that have technological applications in quantum computing and other emerging fields. Several of the researchers involved in the above mentioned investigations have been awarded the Nobel Prize.
