Religious orders have had a presence in the city of Córdoba since 1236, following the reconquest carried out by King San Fernando. The order of San Basilio Magno has been present since the last quarter of the 16th century, a time when the order was in full expansion in Andalusia. The celebration in 2025 of the four hundred thirty-fifth anniversary of the founding of the monastic school of Our Lady of Peace of the Basilian monks in Córdoba offers us a unique opportunity to analyze this interesting building from a historical and artistic perspective. This is a monastic complex for which very few data exist as its archives have not been preserved. This is the main reason why Cordoban historiography has not sufficiently addressed it. With this work, which is based on primary sources, we intend to unveil the unknown foundational history of this interesting monastic school.
