The objective of this study was to characterize the agronomic and productive behavior of 20 genotypes of native corn and the synthetic variety Breve Padilla as a control. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with three replications and a population density of 65,789 plants ha-1 under supplementary irrigation. Forage was harvested 107 days after sowing, when ears reached the 2/3 milk-line stage. Morphological characteristics, fresh and dry matter yields, morphological component yields, leaf/stem ratio, and ear index were evaluated. Data were subjected to analysis of variance, Tukey’s test, principal component analysis, and k-means clustering. Differences among genotypes were detected for all variables (p < 0.05). Peña Chulo (VER) had the highest fresh matter yield (58.09 t ha-1), whereas Macuilucatl (SLP) showed the greatest plant height (315 cm) and dry matter yield (18.26 t ha-1). Olote Colorado (TAM) stood out for its ear index (0.51), Ratón4 (TAM) for its leaf-to-stem ratio (0.90), and Tuxpeño × Norteño 9 (TAM) for its ear yield (7.18 t ha-1). The first two principal components explained 68.3 % of the total variation and separated the genotypes into three groups. These findings confirm the presence of native maize genotypes with favorable attributes for different forage production purposes.
