This article addresses the qualitative housing deficit in Argentina and the role of microcredit mechanisms for home improvement. It examines the experiences of two social organizations: Asociación Civil Madre Tierra and Hábitat para la Humanidad Argentina. The main objective is to analyze their management model,s their working modalities and participatory practices. The study draws on fieldwork conducted at different stages—from 2015 to the present—combining interviews, site visits, and the analysis of secondary sources. For the analysis, three main thematic pillars were constructed regarding the organizations' management models: financial (internal/external), operational/technical (working methods/teams), and social/participatory (families/promoter groups), in order to identify differences and commonalities between the experiences.

Two complementary aspects emerge from the analysis. First, both organizations succeed in creating financing circuits accessible to sectors historically excluded from the formal credit system through revolving funds or subsidized microcredits. Second, their role as "mediators" is not limited to the transfer of monetary resources; their intervention integrates technical assistance and participatory strategies that empower the families involved in the home improvement process. In this way, both experiences provide strategies for housing improvement and reclaim microcredit as a replicable and relevant tool to address the qualitative housing deficit in popular sectors.
