The author and the honoree Dr. Ortiz Rescanière are first described as anthropologists situated in their own contexts, within the Spanish and Peruvian communities, united by their friendship and shared biography. Within the field of Peruvianist study, the work of José María Arguedas is chosen because it unites the scientific histories of both, and of their respective communities (Arguedas, reader of Joaquin Costa) Dr. Ortiz was Arguedas’ favorite disciple, and both have had a close relationship with Spanish-Peruvian culture, in a way that distinguishes them particularly within the rich and diverse Peruvian anthropology. Their shared appreciation for personal dignity, cultural diversity, and in particular the field of sincere and poetic emotions, distinguishes them to recognize them as related.
