The purpose of this work is to conduct a panoramic study on the constitutional changes implemented by the entities of the Mexican Republic and Mexico City, under the constitutional reform to the Judicial Branch published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) on September 15, 2024. These changes are based on Article 116 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States of February 5, 1917 (CPEUM), especially since, in its section III, second paragraph, it was established that the Constitutions and Organic Laws of the states will establish, among other aspects, the conditions for the election by universal, free, secret, direct and non-transferable vote of the citizens, of the Magistrates and Judges comprising the Judicial Branch of the entities; as well as the creation of a Judicial Disciplinary Tribunal and a Judicial Administration Body. Therefore, the problem at hand is to understand, using comparative legal methods and legal dogmatic methods, how the aforementioned entities implemented the reform, in order to identify their similarities and differences. Among the main findings, we note that twenty-nine states adopted the new justice model.
