Educational inclusion in higher education constitutes a challenge for universities due to the diversity of support needs presented by students. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze the approach to special educational needs in higher education from the perspective of inclusive education through a systematic review of the scientific literature. The research was conducted using a qualitative and descriptive-analytical approach, following the PRISMA guidelines. The literature search was carried out in the Redalyc, Google Scholar, Scopus, ERIC, and SciELO databases, considering publications in both Spanish and English from the period 2020–2026. Following the selection process, 34 scientific studies were analyzed. The results reveal the existence of institutional, curricular, pedagogical, and technological barriers that limit student participation and retention. Likewise, inclusive pedagogical strategies, teacher training, technological accessibility, and the strengthening of institutional policies were identified as key elements for promoting a more equitable and inclusive higher education system. It is concluded that addressing special educational needs requires a comprehensive approach that integrates pedagogical, institutional, and technological actions aimed at ensuring the participation and learning of all students.
