In this contribution we will deal with the linguistic evolution of the city of Ceuta and determine some peculiarities of today’s urban speech in order to describe the system that underlies it and to show the influence of southern Spanish, mainly of the Andalusian linguistic norm. On the other hand, we briefly discuss the educational challenges that arise in a multiethnic context where in close contact two very different languages coexist: Spanish and Dariya. This situation leads, among other things, to a significant rate of school failure among students whose mother tongue is Dariya in the educational context of Ceuta.
