The agroecological components of pastures are part of the dynamics of livestock production systems. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of cattle rotation at the unidad agroambiental La Esperanza (UAA), in plots with Urochloa spp. and Cynodon spp. pastures, on weed density and the greenness index. A factorial statistical design with random sampling was implemented, and ANOVA was implemented weed density according to the following factors: pastures, livestock rotation and sampling time. For the greenness index, the t-test and Kruskal-Wallis were applied according to pasture and cattle rotation stage. The number of weeds varied over time between 19 and 36 plants.m-2, with no statistical differences among sampling times, pasture types, orlivestock rotation stages. Weed density after grazing in plots with Urochloa spp. was 7.9 plants m-2 lower than before grazing, whereas in plots with Cynodon spp., it was 6.8 plants m-2 lower. This contributes to cultural management through livestock rotation in the evaluated plots. The greenness index was statistically similar between pastures and rotation stages, indicating a rapid pasture regrowth, without affecting the leaf blade due to cattle consumption. These results show that a 35-day grazing rotation period contributes to the regulation of weed populations and that, in the evaluated plots, the pastures had similar leaf coloration under pre-grazing and post-grazing rotation conditions.
