  • During the 2023 season, the work carried out in Sink-hole I of Polvorín Cave can be grouped into two areas, each of which aim to respond to the initial aims. Headway was made in the restoration and study of human fossils, computerised tomography scans were carried out, all the sediment extracted in 2022 was cleaned and work began on triaging the resulting concentrate. In terms of the fieldwork, additional actions were carried out to facilitate access to the site, we continued excavating different areas of the main excavation site, we dug up fossils located in primary positions in less accessible areas of the gallery, we identified a new sector containing fossil remains and we recovered a stalagmite for future paleoclimate studies.
