The contribution proposes a reading of Amante, a sta fredura, an em-blematic text of the corpus of “canzonette” by Leonardo Giustinian. The analysis highlights the bipartite structure of the ballad and the originality with which the author manages the amorous contrast, in-tertwining topoi, genres and different stylistic registers. Particular at-tention is paid to the dramatic component, investigated through the chronotope, gestures and the use of a parte. Finally, some hypotheses on the models are put forward, tracing a possible hypotext in Boccac-cio’s Ninfale fiesolano.
