Vistas insostenibles: Estéticas de un paisaje pixelado

    En el presente artículo se estudia el papel de las tecnologías de la imagen en la concepción e interacción con el medio que habitamos, tomando como casos de estudio manifestaciones relevantes de dichas tecnologías. Partiendo de la noción de paisaje, descrita y localizada históricamente como una construcción cultural, se lleva a cabo un análisis identificando cómo las condiciones específicas de su observador, así como los dispositivos y técnicas de representación que median la experiencia sobre el entorno, afectan de forma palpable a su conceptualización. Establecida dicha premisa, el texto examina las consecuencias de estos sucesivos distanciamientos. Destaca los riesgos relacionados con la sobreexplotación de los servicios ecosistémicos y la modificación acelerada de las condiciones climáticas. Subraya la paradoja que subyace en la insostenibilidad de las mismas infraestructuras que propician estas distorsiones sobre la percepción, su capacidad para alterar las condiciones materiales que hacen posible su construcción y conservación.

    This article examines the role of image technologies in the conception of, and interaction with, the environment we inhabit, taking as case studies relevant manifestations of these technologies. Starting from the notion of landscape—historically described and situated as a cultural construction—an analysis is carried out to identify how the specific conditions of the observer, as well as the representational devices and techniques that mediate the experience of the environment, significantly affect its conceptualization. Based on this premise, the text examines the consequences of these successive forms of distancing. It highlights the risks associated with the overexploitation of ecosystem services and the accelerated transformation of climatic conditions. It also underlines the paradox underlying the unsustainability of the very infrastructures that generate these distortions in perception, and their capacity to alter the material conditions that make their own construction and preservation possible.
