  • Resumen
    • Archaeological intervention prompted by the dissemination project linked to the Kuartango Dolmen Area. The intervention comprised the excavation of all the sediment preserved in the area inside the chamber and passageway.

The results indicate that the monument was extensively disturbed between the moment it was first discovered in 1871 and the intervention by Barandiarán and Medrano in 1955, as well as, perhaps, during later episodes of looting.

Plentiful anthropological remains were recovered, although they were very fragmented and lacked any anatomical connection. Abundant polished bone hoops were also uncovered, along with pottery fragments and stone material.

The monument, chamber, passageway (not described until our intervention) and mound had been longitudinally cut during actions probably carried out during the 19th century, judging by a photograph taken at that time that reveals that the monument was fairly complete, although lacking a roof. Today, the most striking feature of this dolmen is the presence of a double layer of stone slabs in the northern wall and the lack of orthostats in the opposite wall.
