    El estudio describe y valora nuevas aportaciones por situar al pedagogo y editor Francisco Ferrer Guardia en el escenario anterior a la Gran Guerra. Muestra cómo el tema Ferrer todavía sigue vivo entre políticos e intelectuales. Es un tema todavía no resuelto por la ciudadanía catalana y española, aunque a nivel académico la figura y la obra de Ferrer y la Escuela Moderna han ido ganando en respetabilidad y reconocimiento. El artículo analiza el esfuerzo de los estados francés y español por criminalizar a Ferrer y su entorno, por fabricar un chivo expiatorio con destino a ser sacrificado como víctima propiciatoria del orden social.

    This article describes and values new contributions to situate pedagogue and editor Francisco FerrerGuardia in the scenario prior to the Great War. This study shows how the Ferrer theme still remainsalive among politicians and intellectuals. This is a topic that has not been resolved by the Catalan andSpanish people. However at an academic level Ferrer’s figure and works and the «Escuela Moderna»have gained respectability and recognition. The article analyzes the effort of the French and Spanish Statesto criminalize Ferrer and his circle, as an attempt to create a scapegoat destined to be sacrificed as a victimof the social order.
