El proyecto liberal constituye un eje vertebrador del siglo XIX; sin embargo, apenas afectará, a las mujeres, a las que se les priva de la ciudadanía social, civil y política, no por razones de carácter jurídico, sino por otras de carácter puramente fisiológico: el sexo. Ahora bien, el creciente proceso de modernización que experimenta la sociedad española durante la Restauración, no cuestionará únicamente el sistema político vigente y sus fundamentos ideológicos, sino que se proyectará también en el ámbito femenino. Lentamente, as mujeres irán consiguiendo mayores cotas de igualdad en el ámbito educativo, laboral, e incluso en el político. Y... (Ver más) a la postre, este conjunto de de cambios, aunque frenados por múltiples inercias, vendrá a cuestionar lo que hasta entonces había constituido la identidad femenina. Una identidad que se había considerado inamovible pero que se mostraba dinámica y cambiante con los tiempos.

The Liberal Project which constitutes the structural axis of the XIX th century will hardly affect wome nwho will be deprived of their social, civil and political rights, not only for legal reasons, but also for others purely physiological: their gender. However the increasing process of modernization which the Spanish society is going to undergo during the Restoration period, will question the current political system itsideological basis, and this will be projectd into the feminine sphere. Little by little, women will acquire greater amounts of equality in the educative sphere, in the world of labour and even in the political field. In the end, this group of changes, although stopped by many different inertias, will come to question what until that moment had constituted the feminine identity. An identity which seemed to be fixed but could eventually also be dynamic and changing.
