Una aproximación a la formación de mayores y la inteligencia artificial

    La Universitat Politècnica de València, a través de la Universidad Sénior, es consciente de que una de sus misiones es la integración del alumnado sénior en la vida universitaria, proporcionándoles una formación de calidad y adaptando esta al mundo actual, como es el caso de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación. Por ello, siempre se apuesta por las tecnologías que ponen en marcha nuevas herramientas de aprendizaje. Este es el caso de la Inteligencia Artificial.

    El proyecto comenzó en julio de 2023, cuando se incluyó en la oferta formativa 2023-2024 un curso sobre Inteligencia Artificial, el cual fue muy bien recibido por el alumnado. Desde el Vicerrectorado de Arte, Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad se han impulsado diversas acciones con el objetivo de fomentar la reflexión, desde un enfoque interdisciplinar, sobre el debate en tomo a la IA generativa. Estas acciones incluyen conferencias y exposiciones con expertos internacionales, así como con artistas e investigadores de la Facultad de Bellas Artes que utilizan esta tecnología.

    En diciembre de 2023, desde el Vicerrectorado de Planificación, Oferta Académica y Transformación Digital, se realizó la propuesta de organizar un cicló sobre Inteligencia Artificial para el alumnado sénior. Impartido por prestigiosos ponentes y expertos en la materia de la UPV, y miembros de ValgrAI (Escuela Valenciana de Posgrado y Red de Investigación en Inteligencia Artificial), tuvo gran éxito de asistencia y una valoración excelente, lo que ha permitido poner en marcha una atractiva oferta de cursos sobre la IA para 2024-2025.

    En el transcurso de la elaboración del Plan Estratégico SIRVE de la UPV (20212025), su tercera meta relevante, considera como objetivo fundamental «Consolidar la reputación y el liderazgo de la UPV en la transformación social». La Universidad Sénior se revela un actor clave para alcanzar a un segmento de la población especifico que puede intervenir como aliado en la transmisión del conocimiento acerca de la inteligencia artificial y el impacto que esta tiene y tendrá en nuestra sociedad.

    Como reto futuro, el papel de la IA en el contexto de la Universidad Sénior es un elemento capital en el combate de la actual brecha digital.

    Universitat Politècnica de València, through Universidad Sénior, is aware that one of its missions is the integration of senior students into university life, providing quality training and adapting it to today's world, as is the case of information and communication technologies. For this reason, there is always a commitment to technologies that launch new learning tools. This is the case of Artificial Intelligence.

    This Project starts in July 2023, when an Artificial Intelligence course is included in the 2023-2024 training offer with great reception among students. From the vice-rectorate of Art, Science, Technology and Society, various actions have been promoted with the aim of encourage reflection on the debate arround Al from an interdisciplinary approach. These actions include conferences and exhibitions with international experts, as well as with artists and researchers from the Faculty of Fine Arts who use this technology.

    On December 2023 the Vice-Rector's Office for Planning, Academic Offers and Digital Transformation made a proposal to organize a Cycle on Artificial Intelligence for senior students. Taught by prestigious lecturers and experts in the subject from the UPV, and members of ValgrAI (Valencian Graduate School and Artificial Intelligence Research Network), it had great attendance and an excellent rating, which allowed to launch an attractive offer of courses on Al for 2024-2025.

    During the development of the SIRVE Strategic Plan of the UPV (2021-2025), its third relevant goal considers as its fundamental objective «Consolidate the reputation and leadership of the UPV in social transformation». Universidad Senior is revealed to be a key actor in reaching a specific segment of the population that can intervene as an ally in the transmission of knowledge about artificial intelligence and the impact it has and will have on our society.

    As a future challenge, the role of AI in the context of the Senior University is a fundamental element in combating the current digital divide.
