    Provavelmente em Nova Deli nunca se falou tanto de Portugal e da União Europeia como durante os seis meses da Presidência portuguesa do Conselho da União Europeia. Mesmo assim, urge avaliar se houve algum impacto real e prático, para além do diálogo e simbolismo político. Foi Portugal capaz de levar a prioridade «Índia» a bom porto europeu, e com isso reforçar a sua posição tanto em Bruxelas como na Ásia? E, por outro lado, saiu a Índia beneficiada por ter Lisboa na liderança e como interlocutor, ajudando a abrir novas rotas estratégicas para a Europa?

    Probably there was never so much talk in New Delhi about Portugal and the European Union as during the six months of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Even so, it is crucial to assess whether there was any real and practical impact, beyond dialogue and political symbolism. Was Portugal able to bring successfully the ‘India priority’ to the European scene thereby strengthening its position both in Brussels and in Asia? And, on the other hand, did India benefit from having Lisbon in the lead and as interlocutor, helping to open new strategic routes to Europe?
