    This article argues that President Joe Biden follows in the footsteps of his predecessor, except for two funda‑ mental differences. The first difference is the higher degree of explicitness the new president makes it clear that China challenges Washington in its international leadership and in its model of international order. The second difference is that Biden intends to carry out his “hegemonic war” imprinting in it the liberal internatio‑ nalist mark that had vanished with Donald Trump. To this end, we delve into the theoretical origins of the Biden order and how the new presi‑ dent is putting the centuries-old heri‑ tage into practice.

    Este artigo argumenta que o Presidente Joe Biden segue as pisadas do seu antecessor, mas fá-lo com duas diferenças fundamentais. A primeira é que é mais explícito, o novo Presidente deixa claro que a China desafia Washington na sua liderança interna‑ cional e no seu modelo de ordem inter‑ nacional. A segunda diferença é que Biden pretende levar a cabo a sua «guerra hegemónica», imprimindo-lhe o cunho liberal internacionalista que tinha desaparecido com Donald Trump. Para tal, estudamos as origens teóricas da ordem Biden e a forma como o novo Presidente está a pôr a herança centenária em prática.
