    The different ways of saying the same thing make language dynamic and heterogeneous, enabling, therefore, numerous processes of change. These changes can be noted by observing the use of verbal future tense in Brazilian Portuguese. We can see the implementation of the periphrastic future form (ir + infinitive) to replace the simple future form in speech and writing. Considering important to understand the competition between synthetic forms and analytical forms of the future, we propose in the present paper to analyze the change in progress in the use of the periphrastic future form in written standard of Irará-BA.

    As diversas maneiras de dizer a mesma coisa fazem com que a língua seja dinâmica e heterogênea, possibilitando assim inúmeros processos de variação. Notam-se tais mudanças ao se observar o uso do futuro verbal no português brasileiro. Percebe-se a implementação do futuro perifrástico (ir + infinitivo) em substituição ao futuro simples na fala e na escrita. Considerando importante entender a concorrência entre formas sintéticas e formas analíticas de futuro, o presente estudo se propõe a analisar a mudança em progresso no uso do futuro perifrástico na escrita padrão de Irará-BA.
