    El trabajo social y su gestión en el programa del Ministerio de Inclusión Económica y Social “Mis mejores años” fue objeto de análisis en esta investigación. En Ecuador, se reconoció a los adultos mayores como un grupo vulnerable, y mediante la Constitución de 2008, se les otorgó la categoría de atención prioritaria, lo que implicaba la garantía de sus derechos mediante un cuidado especializado tanto en el ámbito público como privado. El objetivo de la investigación fue definir el rol del trabajador social en el programa “Mis mejores años” del MIES en la ciudad de San Lorenzo, provincia de Esmeraldas. La población objeto de estudio estuvo compuesta por 35 adultos mayores beneficiarios de este programa. La investigación fue de tipo cualitativa, con un enfoque descriptivo-exploratorio y bibliográfico. Se aplicó la técnica de entrevista al trabajador social responsable de ejecutar el programa en la ciudad. Los resultados obtenidos destacaron la labor del profesional en la implementación de herramientas que permitieron la detección temprana de problemas en los adultos mayores.

    Social work and its management in the program of the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion “My best years” was the subject of analysis in this research. In Ecuador, older adults were recognized as a vulnerable group, and through the 2008 Constitution, they were granted the category of priority attention, which implied the guarantee of their rights through specialized care in both the public and private spheres. The objective of the research was to define the role of the social worker in the “My best years” program of the MIES in the city of San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas province. The study population consisted of 35 older adult beneficiaries of this program. The research was qualitative, with a descriptive-exploratory and bibliographic approach. The interview technique was applied to the social worker responsible for executing the program in the city. The results obtained highlighted the work of the professional in the implementation of tools that allowed the early detection of problems in older adults.
