    La agricultura ha priorizado la productividad sin considerar las repercusiones negativas en el medio ambiente, en la búsqueda de proveer alimentos para una sociedad en constante crecimiento. Se necesitan opciones sostenibles y resilientes para satisfacer la demanda de alimentos. La técnica del injerto ha sido utilizada para aumentar la productividad de los cultivos y ha demostrado ser eficiente. El injerto de tomate sobre papa es una opción prometedora para obtener dos productos en una misma planta, fortaleciendo así la seguridad alimentaria. Sin embargo, se requiere continuar con la investigación de esta novedosa técnica.

    Agriculture has prioritized productivity without considering the negative impact on the environment, in the quest to provide food for an ever-growing society. Sustainable and resilient options are needed to meet the demand for food. The technique of grafting has been used to increase crop productivity and has proven to be efficient. The grafting of tomato to potato is a promising option to obtain two products from the same plant, thus increasing food security. However, more research is needed on this novel technique.
