    La gran dificultad epistemológica para la pedagogía proviene de su herencia histórica. Casi de partida se empezó a confundir lo educativo con la idealización del hombre, lo que sirvió para mantener discursos alejados de la realidad fáctica, situándolos en el mundo de la mera especulación idealista. La fundamentación de la pedagogía se fue convirtiendo en un espacio vacío que poco decía de lo pedagógico y, por contra, mucho de las creencias de los autores que especularon sobre ello. Desde esta perspectiva, es fundamental el pensamiento filosófico y pedagógico desarrollado en Alemania desde el último tercio del siglo XIX hasta el primer tercio del siglo XX, a través de los trabajos de Windelband y Rickert.

    The greatest epistemological difficulty in Education originated in its historical background. Almost from the start, education was confused with the idealisation of man, which led to a discourse that entered the world of mere idealistic speculation, far removed from actual fact. The foundations of Education progressively became a kind of vacuum which dealt little with pedagogical concerns but which in turn strongly reflected the personal beliefs of the authors who speculated on them. From this perspective, the philosophical and pedagogical thought developed in Germany from the last third of the nineteenth century to the first third of the twentieth century through the works of Windelband and Rickert is fundamental.
