  • This research examines the visual representation of renewable energies in Spain’s rural landscapes, focusing on its portrayal in two acclaimed 2022 films, As Bestas and Alcarràs, as well as in Spanish media (2017-2022). Using an iconographic and comparative media analysis, the research identifies visual motifs like “Clean and Green” and “The Intruder”, reflecting polarized narratives. The study reveals a gap between media-driven, abstract portrayals and the socio-economic tensions depicted in cinema. It advocates for an equitable and participatory approach to renewable energy transitions by highlighting the invisibility of economic power and the lack of local participation.
