  • Resumen
    • Enhancing volunteer tourist service performance in protected area is significantly important. While the majority of studies have concentrated on the influence of external factors, the role of internal factors, particularly self-efficacy, on volunteering service performance has not been sufficiently elucidated. This study aims to examine the influence of volunteer tourists' self-efficacy and volunteering service performance, including the mediating effect of environmental passion and pro-environmental behaviour, as well as the moderating effect of work autonomy. A survey was conducted with 309 volunteer tourists engaged in science popularization and environmental protection in a protected area in Guangdong Province. The results showed that volunteer tourist self-efficacy fostered their environmental passion, which in turn promotes pro-environmental behaviour and consequently enhanced volunteering service performance. Moreover, work autonomy enhanced the positive influence of volunteer tourist self-efficacy on volunteering service performance.
