Faced with the multiplication of electronic de-vices in the most diverse family contexts, wewanted to know what place and time that thelarge Portuguese Catholic families give to theinternet, having as theoretical hypothesis thatthe religion determines the where and the howmuch those media devices are used. Data wascollected from a national and a regional sam-ple, using the mix methodology. The resultsshowed that, at a national level, the media arelocated in spaces shared by all family; regar-ding time, with televison, are spent betweenthirty minutes to one horur per day, and, whithinternet, the parents spend under thirty minu-tes and the children between thirty minutes toone hour. In the regional study, we confirmedthe options for the spaces shared and the timereduced – two hours by day for the two de-vices. The option for the non private spacepermits the practice of a Catholic value: thesharing. The use of time connects with it’smeaning to these families: “big value”, “sa-cred”, “God given”, that should be used to“stay whith family”. So, it’s possible to con-firm that the the Catholic Doctrine is crucialto understand the space and time of televisionand the Internet in the large Portuguese Catho-lic families.
