La entrada «Arnaldus Villanovanus» en la Bibliotheca Hispana Vetus de Nicolás Antonio

    El artículo examina la entrada sobre el médico y teólogo catalán Arnau de Vilanova que figura en el segundo tomo de la Bibliotheca Hispana Vetus del hispalense Nicolás Antonio, y que fue posteriormente aumentada por el valenciano Francisco Pérez Bayer. El estudio analiza en detalle cada uno de los treinta y dos apartados que, desde el 31 hasta el 62 del capítulo I del libro IX, conforman la entrada, y lo hace principalmente de tres maneras. En primer lugar, el ensayo despliega, para todos los apartados, las referencias o citas bibliográficas mencionadas por Nicolás Antonio y por Francisco Pérez Bayer anotando obras y citando lugares de las mismas de forma completa. En segundo lugar, el artículo intenta aclarar o formular hipótesis sobre citas a las que estos bibliógrafos hacen referencia de manera ambigua, acudiendo también a investigaciones recientes. En tercer lugar, el estudio menciona las obras médicas y alquímicas incluidas en la edición de las obras de Arnau de Vilanova (Basilea 1585), que Nicolás Antonio dice tener a la vista, y de las que ofrece la lista completa junto con otras obras de Arnau de las que tiene noticia, como es el caso de las obras teológicas incluidas en dos códices conservados en la Biblioteca Vaticana. Finalmente, el estudio señala las ediciones más recientes, tanto realizadas como en preparación, de las obras de Arnau mencionadas, en las colecciones Arnaldi de Villanova Opera Medica Omnia (AVOMO), Arnaldi de Villanova Opera Theologica Omnia (AVOThO), y Arnaldi de Villanova Scripta Spiritualia (AVSS).

    The article examines the entry on the Catalan doctor and theologian Arnau de Vilanova that appears in the second volume of the Bibliotheca Hispana Vetus by the Sevillian Nicolás Antonio, and which was later expanded by the Valencian Francisco Pérez Bayer. The study analyzes in detail each of the thirty-two sections that, from the 31st to the 62nd ones of chapter I of book IX, make up the entry, and does it mainly in three ways. Firstly, the essay displays, for all sections, the references or bibliographical quotes mentioned by Nicolás Antonio and Francisco Pérez Bayer, noting works and citing places in them thoroughly Secondly, the article attempts to clarify or formulate hypotheses about citations to which these bibliographers refer in an ambiguous way, also drawing on recent research. Thirdly, the study mentions the medical and alchemical works included in the edition of the works of Arnau de Vilanova published in Basel in 1585, which Nicolás Antonio says he has in sight, and of which he offers the complete list, together with other works by Arnau that he knows, such as the theological works included in two codices conserved in the Vatican Library. Finally, the study points out the most recent editions, both completed and in preparation, of the mentioned works of Arnau, in tne collections Arnaldi de Villanova Opera Medica Omnia (AVOMO), Arnaldi de Villanova Opera Theologica Omnia (AVOThO), and Arnaldi de Villanova Scripta Spiritualia (AVSS).
