Entre pesquisa e extensão: A compreensão da geografia histórica no desenvolvimento do Vale do Ribeira Paranaense

    This text analyzes the complexity of the dialectical relationships between the natural environment, society, and political decisions that constitute the Ribeira Valley in the state of Paraná, through an analysis of the historical geography of the municipalities of Cerro Azul and Doutor Ulysses. These are remnants of what was once the Assunguy colony, one of the oldest in the state of Paraná, currently presenting the lowest Human Development Indexes in the state. The study was carried out through the implementation of the University Outreach Service Project entitled “Advisory services in the construction of urban and regional development projects for municipalities with medium and low HDI in the state of Paraná, through the preparation/revision of their Participatory Master Plans.” This research-outreach practice enabled the identification of these municipalities as the result of multiscale variables of political and economic decisions that were made over time and are currently dependent on their trajectory.

    Analisamos, neste texto, a complexidade das relações dialéticas entre o espaço natural, a sociedade e as decisões políticas constituintes do Vale do Ribeira Paranaense, a partir da análise da geografia histórica dos municípios de Cerro Azul e Doutor Ulysses. Esses são remanescentes do que foi a ex-colônia Assunguy, uma das mais antigas do estado do Paraná e que atualmente apresentam, respectivamente, os menores Índices de Desenvolvimento Humano do estado. Esta pesquisa foi realizada por meio da execução do Projeto de Prestação de Serviço Extensionista intitulado “Assessoria na construção de projetos de desenvolvimento urbano e regional dos municípios com IDH médio e baixo no Estado do Paraná, por meio da elaboração/revisão de seus Planos Diretores Participativos”. Com essa prática de pesquisa-extensão, identificamos que estes municípios são o resultado das variáveis multiescalares de decisões políticas e econômicas que foram tomadas ao longo do tempo e que, atualmente, são dependentes de sua trajetória.
