    Positivist tradition claims that philosophy must be relieved by science, which would now be the only legitimate form of intellectual activity. This communication proposes: a) to show the weakness of the positivist position, which relegates to irrationality issues that, by their very nature, are not susceptible to strictly scientific treatment; b) to claim, along with scientific discourse, the legitimacy and dignity of the philosophical discourse on the great metempirical and axiological issues; and c) indicate, based on a strict and modern concept of science, which are the reasonable relationships between science and philosophy

    Tota la tradició positivista pretén que la filosofia ha de ser rellevada per la ciència, que seria actualment l’única forma legítima d’activitat intel·lectual. Aquesta comunicació es proposa: a) mostrar la feblesa de la posició positivista, que relega a la irracionalitat aquelles qües-tions que per la seva naturalesa no són susceptibles de tractament estrictament científic; b) reivindicar, al costat del discurs científic, la legitimitat i la dignitat del discurs filosòfic sobre les grans qüestions metempíriques i axiològiques; i c) indicar, partint d’un concepte estricte i modern de ciència, quines són les relacions raonables entre ciència i filosofia.
