    ¿Qué calzaban los burgaleses del siglo XVIII? A través de la recopilación de 936 inventarios de bienes para los hogares urbanos del Setecientos, vislumbramos cuáles eran los calzados que vestían sus vecinos, hombres y mujeres. La primera problemática a explicar es por qué únicamente el 36,3 % de los implicados disponía de zapatos, zapatillas, botas, botines o escarpines. En segundo término, se ha de concluir que también en este aspecto de la cultura material existía una marcada diferencialidad en función de las distintas categorías socioprofesionales, la extracción estamental o los niveles de fortuna. En tercera instancia, es imprescindible analizar el contraste hallado en el devenir temporal entre unos y otros calzados. Fuera por el número de piezas o por la calidad (precio) de sus calzados, se descubren los pormenores tópicos de una sociedad ternaria de Antiguo Régimen.

    What footwear did the people of Burgos use in the 18th century? The compilation of 936 inventories of goods for urban households in the eighteenth century offer a glimpse of the footwear worn by the neighbours of this city, both men and women. The first problem to be explained revolves around why only 36.3 % of these had shoes, slippers, boots, ankle boots or pumps. Secondly, it must be concluded that on this concert of material culture, too, there was a marked differentiation according to the different socio-professional categories, social status or levels of wealth. Thirdly, it is essential to analyse the contrast found between the different types of footwear over time. Whether in terms of the number of shoes or the quality (price) of the footwear, the details of a ternary society of the Ancien Régime are revealed.
