  • This article studies the reason for which Alfonso x el Sabio condemns demonic necromantic practices associated with Solomonic magic in cantiga125. The Galician-Portuguese testimony of the cantigaalong with the miniatures featured by the Códice ricoprovide us with a descriptive account on necromancy performed by the clergy. This emphasis put forth by the authors of these pieces can be explained if we take into account the other side of Solomonic magic, that is, the angelology represented in the Liber Razielis, which was one of the books that the Alfonsine writers preserved and translated.
