    Este trabajo se inscribe en una línea de aprovechamiento de recursos autóctonos cubanos para el desarrollo de la siderurgia nacional. Se estudia el beneficio mineralúrgico por separación magnética de los minerales magnetítices de! yacimiento Hierro Santiago, habiéndose obtenido unos concentrados de hierro que se han caracterizado por diversas técnicas. Estos concentrados se someten a operaciones de peletización y de reducción directa y se obtiene un producto de características aceptables para ser cargado, junto con chatarra, en el horno eléctrico de arco, presentando la ventaja de no incorporar elementos nocivos al lecho de fusión.

    The research described in this report aims at the recovery of natural Cuban resourccs development of their domestic iron and Steel industry. A study was undertaken o minerallurgical beneficiation by magnetic separation of the magnetite ores fron the Santiago orebody. Iron concentrates were obtained which were characterized by ' ' techniques. These concéntrales were subjected to pelletizing and direct reduction opera i The product obtained has acceptable characteristics for charging, together with scrap, mto electric are furnace with the advantage that it does not incorporate harmful elements in the fusión bcd.
