This study reports the occurrence and pathological features of fibroma-a benign fibrous tumour of connective tissue-in the Blackfin sea catfish (Arius jella), a species of ecological and economic importance in Indian coastal and estuarine waters. Despite its significance in local fisheries, limited attention has been paid to the health status and disease conditions affecting this species. A comprehensive clinical and pathological examination was conducted on affected specimens, focusing on gross morphology, radiographic findings, and histopathological characteristics. Gross examination revealed large, firm tumour masses near the cranial region, with irregular reddish margins and notable exophthalmos due to orbital involvement. Radiographic imaging showed a radio-opaque bony mass originating from the maxilla, accompanied by osteolytic changes and structural bone loss. Histopathological evaluation revealed dense collagen deposition interspersed with bland, spindle-shaped fibroblastic cells arranged in fascicles-hallmarks of fibroma. This represents the first reported case of fibroma suggestive lesion in Arius jella, revealing a previously unrecognized neoplastic condition and highlighting the need for further research into fish health and tumour pathology in marine ecosystems
