La formación de los mecánicos automotrices mediante la EPIME y su trabajo en la ciudad de México, 1915-1924

    Este artículo estudia la capacitación laboral de los mecánicos automotrices dentro de la Escuela Práctica de Ingenieros Mecánicos y Electricistas (EPIME) desde 1915 hasta 1924. Asimismo, muestra los procesos de su formación, indaga sobre sus trayectorias laborales e identifica las implicaciones que les dificultaron encontrar empleo en la ciudad de México. Dentro de un contexto mediado por la expansión automotriz en la ciudad, la estrechez del mercado de trabajo y las dinámicas de contratación y ascensos laborales preferenciales, se muestran los espacios donde trabajaron, las actividades que realizaron y las condiciones en que las llevaron a cabo.

    This article studies the job training of automotive mechanics within the Escuela Práctica de Ingenieros Mecánicos y Electricistas (EPIME) from 1915 to 1924. It also shows the processes of their training, investigates their work trajectories and identifies the implica-tions that made it difficult for them to find employment in Mexico City. Within a context mediated by the automotive expansion in the city, the narrowness of the labor market and the dynamics of preferential hiring and job promotions, the spaces where they worked, the activities they performed and the conditions in which they carried them out are shown.
