    En aquest article farem una breu introducció al relat literari conegut com la "Saga d’Eirekr el Viatger", amb l’objectiu d’explorar el possible context històric en què es desenvolupa la ficció de la saga. També s’hi inclourà la traducció al català d’aquesta saga, així com un panorama de l’estat en què es trobava l’Imperi Romà d’Orient a inicis del segle xv, i la vida i aportacions de Manel II, l’emperador savi al qual pot fer referència la saga.

    In this article we will give a brief introduction to the Icelandic story known as the "Saga of Eirekr the Traveller", with the aim of exploring the possible historical coordinates in which the fiction of the saga unfolds. The Catalan translation of this saga will also be included, as well as a panorama of the state in which the Eastern Roman Empire was at the beginning of the 15th century, and the life and contributions of Manel II, the wise emperor to whom the saga may refer.
