Social Dominance Theory allows us to study gender discrimination into a broader form. Thistheory proposes the Social Dominance Orientation (SDO), defined as an individualpsychological orientation that expresses the individual’s tendency for inequality and group-baseddominance. It is argued that men will show SDO significantly higher levels than women, evenafter removing cultural, demographic, situational or attitudinal factors. This is probably becauseof the behavioural and attitudinal expression of despair genders’ reproductive strategies(Invariance Hypothesis). Nevertheless, some studies have suggested that gender identitymediates the relationship between SDO and gender. Although is unclear the contribution orrefutation of Invariance Hypothesis regardless this results, it is necessary to analyze deeper therole of gender identity in this relationship. In this study we explore the mediator role of genderidentity using a measure based on Spence’s Multifactorial Model.
