Acusaciones de falacias en Twitter: un estudio exploratorio

    En el presente estudio empírico se explora cómo los argumentadores ordinarios se acusan unos a otros de haber cometido una falacia. Se analizaron 1450 publicaciones de la red social Twitter. De ellos, 290 fueron acusaciones de falacia. Cada una de las acusaciones fue analizada de acuerdo con cuatro criterios: (1) si se identifica la categoría de la falacia, (2) si se justifica la acusación, (3) si la justificación hace referencia al contenido o el contexto del argumento, y (4) si el acusador muestra una disposición a discutir su acusación. Finalmente, en la segunda parte del estudio, se identifican las categorías de falacias mencionadas más frecuentemente en las acusaciones. Los resultados de este estudio pueden servir para arrojar algo de luz sobre el modo en que usan el concepto de falacia quienes lo conocen, independientemente de dónde lo hayan aprendido.

    This empirical study explores how ordinary arguers accuse each other of having committed a fallacy. 1450 posts in the social network Twitter were analyzed. 290 of them were fallacy accusations. Each of the accusations was analyzed according to four criteria: (1) whether the category of fallacy is identified, (2) whether the accusation is justified, (3) whether the justification makes reference to the content or the context of the argument, and (4) whether the accuser displays a willingness to discuss his or her accusation. Finally, in the second part of the study, the categories of fallacies that are most frequently mentioned in the accusations are identified. The results of this study may shed some light into the way people who know about the concept of fallacy use it, regardless of whether they learnt it.
