    • Abstract: Osteochondroma is a benign tumor, defined as osteocartilaginous exostosis with corticomedullary continuity that reproduces the structure and progression of a physis during growth, considered a developmental disorder rather than a true neoplasia, caused by the separation of a cartilaginous fragment of epiphyseal growth, herniating through the normal bone surrounding the growth plate. It is observed in children and adolescents, without gender difference; most are solitary. The common sites of appearance are the distal end of the femur and the proximal end of the tibia and humerus; it can occur in any bone formed by endochondral ossification.
