    En la novela histórica Asalto al Paraíso, de Tatiana Lobo,el mulato es representado como un sujeto históricoque evoca la hibridez cultural latinoamericana,pues establece una transición entre dos referentessocioculturales. Esta representación no se limita auna síntesis, sino que conlleva rupturas, diferenciacionesy contradicciones. El mulato, como ser histórico,responde a la interrogante del destino de losafrodescendientes y los procesos de inserción de lossujetos subordinados en las estructuras sociales de laépoca colonial del subcontinente. En esta ponenciase argumenta que Asalto al Paraíso, como resultadode una rigurosa investigación histórica, da voz a esesujeto colonial costarricense, desde su representaciónen los espacios de enunciación sociohistóricos.

    In the historic novel Asalto al Paraíso, by Tatiana Lobo,the mulatto is depicted as a historical subject that evokesthe Latin American cultural hybridity, as it establishesa transition between two sociocultural referents. Thisrepresentation is not limited to a synthesis, but involvesruptures, differentiations, and contradictions. The mulattoas historical subject answers the question regarding thefate of the African descents and the insertion processesof these subordinate subjects in the social structuresof the colonial era in Costa Rica. The main argumentis that Asalto al Paraíso gives voice to the Costa Ricancolonial subject, as a result of a rigorous historicalresearch, from its representation in the socio-historical spaces of historical enunciation.
