    Los deseos oscuros y los otros. Cuadernos de New York (2002) reúne una serie de diarios de la escritora Luisa Valenzuela, que ella misma definió como “simples movimientos del cuore y del cuerpo” (2002, p. 10). Allí la autora va trazando un cruce entre sus experiencias afectivas, íntimas y amorosas con sus actividades académicas y político-humanitarias tras su llegada a Nueva York. El objetivo de este trabajo es indagar los alcances del motivo del viaje, entendido como un lugar de enunciación temática y simbólica recurrente en la obra general de Valenzuela, situando Los deseos oscuros y los otros en ese espacio de tránsito contante. El análisis articula las nociones de subjetividad nómade (Braidotti, 2000) y de giro afectivo (Ahmed, 2019), considerando el texto como un artefacto afectivo y errante, donde el yo se rehace a partir de las intensidades del deseo y el goce. El cuerpo que viaja y escribe está impulsado por afectividades que se desvían de lo esperable y encuentra sentido en el tránsito, el riesgo y lo marginal: encuentros fugaces, pasiones y frustraciones conforman una cartografía emocional. El viaje, en tanto desplazamiento, opera como vehículo para una subjetividad en incesante movimiento; constituye una expresión nómade que permite interpretar el eje sobre el que se asienta la poética de Valenzuela: la búsqueda como exploración existencial y textual.

    The Dark Desires and the Others. Notebooks from New York (2002) brings together a series of journals by writer Luisa Valenzuela, which she herself described as “simple movements of the cuore and the body” (2002:10). In these pages, the author traces an intersection between her emotional, intimate, and romantic experiences and her academic and political-humanitarian activities following her arrival in New York.

    The aim of this work is to explore the scope of the theme of travel, understood as a site of thematic and symbolic enunciation that recurs throughout Valenzuela’s body of work, situating The Dark Desires and the Others within that constant space of transition.

    The analysis brings together the notions of nomadic subjectivity (Braidotti, 2000) and the affective turn (Ahmed, 2019), considering the text as an affective and wandering artifact in which the self is reshaped through the intensities of desire and pleasure.

    The body that travels and writes is driven by affectivities that deviate from the expected and finds meaning in transit, risk, and the marginal: fleeting encounters, passions, and frustrations shape an emotional cartographyTravel, as displacement, functions as a vehicle for a subjectivity in constant motion; it becomes a nomadic expression that helps interpret the foundation of Valenzuela’s poetics: the search as both existential and textual exploration.
