    La memoria pervive en las voces de los habitantes de La Torre, un edificio del pueblo de Alfarache en el que conviven diferentes culturas y nacionalidades. Entre ellos Ángel, un profesor de filosofía que duda sobre el sentido de la acción protegido en el ejercicio de la especulación y el pensamiento. El contrapunto está representado por el anciano Gil, un exiliado republicano que llega al mismo enclave por las reminiscencias del pícaro creado por Mateo Alemán en el Siglo de Oro. Sus recuerdos del pasado le llevan a convencer al profesor de la posibilidad de un cambio de destino en la vida, por ello este decide ayudar a un alumno guineano que ha acudido a esperar la patera en la que llega su hermano a la costa gaditana. Junto a otro de sus estudiantes, Rachid de procedencia marroquí-, consigue rescatar a todo el grupo de inmigrantes y, aunque ya nada es igual cuando vuelven a La Torre, la aventura les ha hecho compartir una historia que ya queda para el recuerdo.

    Memory lives on in the voices of the inhabitants of La Torre, a building in the town of Alfarache where different cultures and nationalities coexist. Among them is Ángel, a philosophy professor who doubts the meaning of action protected by the exercise of speculation and thought. The counterpoint is represented by the elderly Gil, a Republican exile who arrives at the same enclave reminiscent of the pícaro created by Mateo Alemán in the Golden Age. His memories of the past lead him to convince the professor of the possibility of a change of destiny in life, so the professor decides to help a Guinean student who has come to wait for the boat in which his brother arrives on the Cadiz coast. Together with another of his students, Rachid-of Moroccan origin- he manages to rescue the entire group of immigrants, and although nothing is the same when they return to La Torre, the adventure has allowed them to share a story that will remain in their memories.
